Freezing rain advisory in effect
A freezing rain advisory could make for some slick roads overnight.

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- The North Carolina DOT is urging people to stay off the roads until conditions improve after freezing rain coated the Triangle Saturday.

The National Weather Service's freezing rain advisory will expire at 9 a.m., but DOT officials want drivers to stay home until at least 10 a.m.

Temps move above freezing by mid-morning tomorrow and into the upper 40s to perhaps low 50s late tomorrow afternoon.

The light rain will end in the morning but we'll see some drizzle this afternoon. Fog and drizzle is a pretty good bet tonight as temperatures continue to go up in the overnight hours.

A cold front will approach late in the weekend. This front brings showers, and perhaps even a thunderstorm, to central North Carolina on Sunday then periods of rain Sunday night through Monday.

As fresh cold air drills in from the north, there will be a growing concern for freezing temperatures and the potential for ice Monday night into early Tuesday of next week. We'll keep an eye on it.
