2-year-old found face down in Spring Lake pool dies

SPRING LAKE (WTVD) -- A 2-year-old girl found face down in her grandmother's pool last Thursday has died, Spring Lake police say.

On Thursday, officers were called to Lee Street where they found the girl unresponsive.

She was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where she was revived.

However, over the weekend, the girl was taken off life support and she was pronounced deceased by medical staff.

Medical personnel stated there were no signs of trauma on the body and they have ruled the death as an accidental drowning.

The Spring Lake Police Department has not uncovered any foul play at this time and is still continuing its investigation into the victim's death.
