Today, ABC11 Eyewitness News is announcing a partnership with Nextdoor, the free and private social network for neighborhoods. ABC11 will be using Nextdoor to bring local news to the conversations happening in Nextdoor communities across your area.

More than 3,400 neighborhoods in the greater Raleigh-Durham area currently use Nextdoor to stay informed about what's happening in their community and cultivate meaningful conversations around local issues. Now, ABC11 will be able to post relevant and interesting news stories to Nextdoor neighborhoods in Fayetteville, Raleigh, Durham, and surrounding areas.

"Discussing local news with neighbors is an essential way to build a strong community and an informed civic dialogue," said Adam Frary, Director of Audience Engagement and Strategy at ABC11. "We hope that the stories we share lead to further community discussions about the topics that matter most to you as a viewer."

This partnership gives ABC11 insight into local stories and conversations, what matters to these communities, and an opportunity to see the engagement with stories on a hyperlocal level. However, ABC11 will not have access to private neighborhood conversations or member data and can only see neighbor replies to the articles it shares.

If there is an article/story that ABC11 does not share that residents would like to discuss with neighbors, readers can also use the ?Share on Nextdoor' icon that will be accessible on all of ABC11's news stories.

Visit ABC11's Nextdoor profile page to find locally relevant stories from ABC11 Eyewitness News. To join the neighborhood news conversation, residents can sign up for Nextdoor by going to www.nextdoor.com/abc11 and entering an email address and home address.
