BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WTVD) -- A bowl game is supposed to be a great ending for any senior. A parting gift for enduring the rigors of a college football career.

For All-AAC selection Terry Williams, it won't be close to a storybook finish. The Pirates starting nose tackle won't play against the Florida Gators. He's suspended along with starting strong safety junior Domonique Lennon. The reason for the suspension wasn't given, but the result could sway the balance in the 9th annual Birmingham Bowl.

Down a couple of defenders just means the Pirates must be even more efficient on offense. Certainly Quarterback Shane Carden and Receiver Justin Hardy have proven over and over that the dynamic duo can carry ECU to a win.

The Pirates are third in the country in passing yards per game averaging 370. On the other side, the Gators are vulnerable in the air yielding close to 200 yards a game. Look for Carden to put it up early and often as they try to spread the Gators out.

Game time is noon Saturday.
