The Works wrapup
Angelica Alvarez caps off a day of fun in downtown Raleigh.

Across the nation and in the Triangle and throughout North Carolina, it was a day for celebration as the nation turned 240 on Monday.

In downtown Raleigh, The 'Works presented by ABC11 filled Independence Day with live music, a beer/wine tent, kids rides and games, and other attractions such as aerial performances, Cirque de Vol street performers, eating contests, food and art vendors, and much more. Fireworks lit up the sky over the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts at 9:30 p.m.
