The event was held at the Jim Graham Building at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds.
More than 900 volunteers worked to sort and package $206,000 pounds of rice for local families.
This year's Sort-A-Rama also marks the beginning of the "Stop Summer Hunger" campaign which aims to provide 3.2 million meals to area children during the months of June and July.

Meanwhile, a local boy who is only 5 years old is pitching in as well to help the hungry.
For his sixth birthday, Kingston Braswell wants family, friends, and even strangers to help feed people by donating to the food bank.
