Feds: Pilot at fault for 2013 'runway emergency'
Federal investigators have released a final report on a runway emergency in 2013 involving a Southwest Airlines plane at LaGuardia Airport.

NEW YORK (WTVD) -- Federal investigators have released a final report on a runway emergency in 2013 involving a Southwest Airlines plane at LaGuardia Airport.

Flight 345 left RDU on July 22, 2013, stopped in Nashville, and then had a hard landing in New York.

The Boeing 737 slammed into the runway, driving the nose gear into the belly of the aircraft and subsequently injuring eight people.

Investigators said the pilot didn't follow procedures. The say the plane was coming in too high and too fast.

Instead of landing, officials said the pilot should have aborted the landing.

The pilot has since been fired.
