WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Authorities say officers called to a crowded home for a noise complaint in Winston-Salem arrived at the same time someone in the crowd fired shots that killed a 22-year-old man.

Investigators said the noise complaint was made to a 911 operator around 4:15 a.m. Sunday.

As officers arrived, police say gunshots were heard and the large crowd began to quickly run away.

Authorities say the officers found Kendrick Smith dead at the front of the home and a 30-year-old man had been shot in the leg.

Investigators are still questioning witnesses and have not identified any suspects or determined a motive for the shooting.
