Durham police are searching for a motorcyclist who almost hit an officer

DURHAM (WTVD) -- Durham police are looking for a motorcyclist who they say almost hit a police officer before fleeing the scene of a crash.

Sunday evening around 6:00 p.m,. Durham police said a man on a motorcycle crashed on Third Fork Road, near MLK Parkway and Archdale Drive.

They said when he crashed he almost hit a police car. Instead of stopping to assess the damage, police say the driver hopped onto the back of a friend's four-wheeler and the two sped away.

Moments later police responded to several complaints of motorcycles and four-wheelers in the 2300 block of Harvard Street.

Police found that getaway driver of the four-wheeler on Harvard Street. They arrested him but they're still looking for the man on the motorcycle that crashed.

No one was seriously injured and police have not released any names.
