Abandoned home destroyed by fire in Durham
The blaze happened around 3:30 a.m. on Gilbert Street.

DURHAM -- Emergency crews respond to a house fire early Sunday in Durham.



It happened around 3:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of Gilbert Street.



Neighbors saw the blaze and called it in.



When firefighters arrived, the home was already engulfed in flames. Fire crews also had to work to protect a nearby home.



There was some minor damage to the house next door including a broken window.



Officials said the first house was a total loss, but neighbors said it was abandoned.



No injuries were reported.
