BENSON, North Carolina (WTVD) -- The Johnston County Sheriff's Office says it has caught a burglar with a sweet tooth.
Deputies say 35-year-old Richard Edward Myers broke into a store south of Benson and stole $57 worth of honey buns, soft drinks, and cigarettes after cutting the wires to a surveillance camera.
In addition to charges of felony breaking and entering and felony larceny, Myers was also charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after investigators found a syringe filled with suspected methamphetamine in his home.
The stolen honey buns were not recovered.
