The shooting happened at the Sports Page Bar in the 800 block of North Smithfield Road at around 5 p.m. Officers found one person with a gunshot wound and another person who had been assaulted during the same incident.

The gunshot victim was taken to the hospital and is listed in critical condition. His identity has not been released.
Sports Page Bar was closed Friday night and a sign was placed on the door letting people know the local spot will reopen Saturday.
Just behind the shopping center where the bar is located, there's a construction site, and ABC11 spoke with an eyewitness who works there.

He said a man showed up at the job site in a horrible state and was taken into custody.
"He had blood on his body," the eyewitness said. "Then a police officer came through our job and said 'Have you seen an individual?" And he was right there, and speed around the corner and got him and he had blood on him."
Tyler Squirewell, 29, of Clayton, was arrested and charged with one count of assault inflicting serious injury.
Knightdale Police Captain Danny Phillips said that investigators were dealing with two crime scenes related to the shooting. Phillips said investigators were in the process of identifying others involved.

"Incidents such as these take time to thoroughly investigate. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families as they deal with this senseless act of violence," Phillips said. "Our officers did an outstanding job during the initial response, providing aid to the victims, locating and securing crime scenes, conducting preliminary investigations, and locating at least one suspect. Our investigators will continue to follow where the investigation takes them, ensuring those responsible are brought to justice."
Knightdale Police Investigators worked through the night collecting evidence and piecing together what led to the shooting.
The two assaults happened on the sidewalk in front of the Sports Page bar. The two people assaulted were treated for minor injuries at the scene and were released.
