GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WTVD) -- An accidental shooting, not an active shooter as initially believed, left one person injured inside Wayne Memorial Hospital on Sunday night.

It all started around 8 p.m. when shots were fired inside the hospital. It quickly went on lockdown as Goldsboro police officers and Wayne County deputies rushed to the scene.

When they arrived they found a woman, Sade Jones, had been shot in the leg. Her injuries were not life threatening.

Just before 10 p.m. Wayne County officials said they knew who the suspected shooter was and they were working to track him down and arrest him.

At around 8 a.m. the following morning, Goldsboro Police Department confirmed that the shooting at the hospital was never actually an active shooter situation. Instead, GPD said the shooting was an accidental shooting by Jones' brother, Allen Carmichael.

A felony warrant has been issued for Carmichael.

Police say the hospital does have metal detectors and that they are investigating how the gun made it inside.
