Officials identify body found under bridge

FAYETTEVILLE

At approximately 4:15 p.m. on Friday, Fayetteville personnel and police detectives recovered a body found at the bottom of a 12 to 15 foot ravine located under the Grove Street Bridge.

It took authorities more than a day to remove the partially buried body from under the Grove Street Bridge, due to unstable ravine walls.

The body has been confirmed as 40-year old Casandra Parker Manor. Sources indicate that Manor was homeless and took up residence under the Grove Street Bridge.

Her body was taken to the Medical Examiner's office in Chapel Hill on Sunday for an autopsy. The cause of her death has been ruled as an accidental drowning as a result of a fall into the ravine.

A homeless man made the discovery Thursday.

Investigators confirm she may have been in the ravine for a week or more.
