Johnson is accused watching and encouraging her husband Joseph Craig, 25, as he beat and caged a 19-year-old man over several months. A 44-year-old woman has accused Craig of rape and kidnapping. Craig faces several charges and remains in the Durham County jail.
According to search warrants, the both couples lived together for several months while participating in bizarre sex rituals as part of a cult. Defense attorneys have denied the alleged victims were held against their will.
Diana Palmer, the third person charged in the case, is accused of hiding items used in the alleged beatings. Palmer is out on bond. Johnson's attorney has denied her involvement in the alleged attacks.
