Eyewitness News has learned the two people are in stable condition. Their names have not been released.
Using flashlights Monday night, troopers tried to find all the pieces to the two bicycles the victims were riding.
One of the bikes' wheels was found several feet away. Both bikes were mangled.
Officials say a man hit them just before 7 p.m. Monday, continued driving to his house then returned to the scene several minutes later.
Troopers have not said how fast the driver was going. The speed limit is 45 mph on Rolesville Road.
They took the driver to the Wake County jail, charging him with DWI and possibly hit and run.
