Sony Ericsson to lay off hundreds of workers

RALEIGH According to the Triangle Business Journal, workers were told the news Monday morning at a mandatory staff meeting in Durham.

Sony Ericsson's head of global communications and public relations says the RTP cuts are part of company-wide changes that Sony Ericsson announced in July. At the time, the company said it would lay off 2,000 workers worldwide.

The company has about 750 workers in RTP, which is the headquarters of the company's North American operations.
