On Sept. 18, the Department of Health and Human Services announced it would begin the transfer of patients from /*Dix*/ to /*Central Hospital*/.
When the decision was made to begin transferring patients, the /*DHHS*/ Secretary had to determine if the new hospital was in compliance with conditions of per the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
On Sept. 23-25 CMS visited Central Hospital and questioned if the two hospitals had fully merged its medical staff and regulatory procedures.
CMS determined the hospitals were not fully merged. DHHS is awaiting a final decision about the patient transfer.
