Obama cabinet could have NC connections

A North Carolina State Alumnus is expected to be named White House press secretary to President-elect Barack Obama.

Robert Gibbs served as campaign strategist in Obama's presidential campaign and served as communications director of Obama's senate office.

Politico.com says the officials announcement is expected Thursday.

Gibbs, whose parents live in Wake County, graduated cum laude from NC State.

Obama could also name a former North Carolina leader to his cabinet.

Former N.C. Governor Jim Hunt may be chosen to serve as an education secretary, according to the Chronicle of Higher Education. The Chronicle points to his work on the federal commission on the Future of Higher Education.
