Delta delays Paris flights from RDU

RALEIGH Delta says the current economic climate is the reason for the decision.

"We are obviously disappointed by Delta's decision as Paris service would have opened many new and efficient international travel opportunities for the citizens of our region," said Teresa Damiano, RDU Director of Marketing, in a statement released to the media.

RDU says about 500 passengers a day use the airport for overseas destinations. About 150 fly non-stop to London on American Airlines. The rest have to make stops in other American cities before heading out internationally.

Delta only announced the new flight on November 6. The flight was scheduled to begin on June 2.
