Triple fatal drunk driver pleads guilty

RALEIGH Francisco Martinez was convicted of three counts of second degree murder and two counts of felony serious injury by vehicle.

The 30-year-old driver of Knightdale was driving drunk in the wrong direction on Interstate 440 in May when he hit a car loaded with five people head-on.

Three people in the car were killed: 26-year-old Guillermo Zintzun Jimenez, 21-year-old Dagoberto Zintzun Jimenez and 14-year-old Santiago Pascual Tellez. They were all from the Raleigh area.

Martinez has been sentenced to between 13 and 16 years in prison.

Raleigh Police also say Martinez is an illegal immigrant. After he serves his jail sentence, he will then be turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
