Griffith to give reading at Perdue inauguration

Actor and N.C. native Andy Griffith will help welcome Gov.-elect Beverly Perdue into office.He will participate in Saturday's inauguration, delivering a reading following the Gov.-elect's inaugural address.

Griffith is best known for his role as Sheriff Taylor in the popular 1960s sitcom "The Andy Griffith Show." He now lives in Manteo.

Griffith also participated in the 2001 and 2005 inaugurations of outgoing Gov. Mike Easley.

Inaugural activities begin Thursday night. The inaugural ball is Friday evening.
