The 24-year-old Colorado native was on his second deployment in two years.
He leaves behind a wife and mother and father.
The Department of Defense said 33-year-old Maj. Brian M. Mescall of Hopkinton, Massachusetts, and 24-year-old Spc. Joseph M. Hernandez of Hammond, Indiana were also killed.
The three were assigned to 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment in Hohenfels, Germany.
