Woman awakes, talks about beating

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. According to the Onslow County Sheriff's Office, 26-year-old Erin Gould spoke about her December attack for the first time Tuesday.

She is in stable condition and remains hospitalized but faces more surgery and therapy as she recovers from her injuries.

Authorities say her husband, 24-year-old Cpl. Jonathan Gould, used a hammer to beat her, then stabbed himself multiple times and fabricated a story about their home being robbed early Dec. 20.

Investigators say Jonathan Gould later confessed to attacking his wife.
