Shoeless suspect robs Arby's worker

DURHAM The Durham Police Department told Eyewitness News a man robbed a store manager as he was leaving the Arby's on Avondale Ave.

The manager told police he was on his way to the bank to make a store deposit.

He says he was leaving Arby's around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday when a man hit him over the head with a gun.

The manager was treated at the scene for injuries to his mouth and head.

The suspect ran from the scene with the bank deposit bag. He was not wearing shoes at the time of the robbery but may have put them back on after leaving the scene.

Although police have not confirmed the amount of money stolen, the manager told police it was $2,700.

Police used K-9s to search the area near the scene.

Police say a man who might be a suspect was caught after running from officers. The man was found hiding in a closet at a nearby apartment.

Police have not identified the man as the robbery suspect, but he had warrants for his arrest. He failed to appear in court on previous charges.
