Gov. wants to use billions of lottery money

RALEIGH North Carolina is facing a $2.2 billion budget shortfall and Governor Bev Perdue says she plans to take $88 million in lottery money and put it in the general fund.

Perdue says she's just trying to do what's right for the state.

"And its my constitutional responsibility to balance the budget and pay the bills and im going to do that," Perdue said. "And if i need help doing it ill do whatever i have to do to make that happen."

But critics say it's the education lottery not general fund lottery.

Perdue says the money will remain within education.
