A SUV hit a pole that supports power and cable lines. Homes in the area were without power about seven hours.
"But we couldn't turn the TV on so we couldn't get any more information," one resident told Eyewitness News. "We had no idea. But anyway, I'm just glad it's over!"
Police arrested and charged 43-year-old Benjamin Sherwood Barnes of Raleigh with DWI.
