Students arrested at school for drugs, weapons

Police arrested two high school students Monday for bringing drugs and weapons on campus.Deputies say the two 71st High School students were arrested at around 11:30 a.m. Monday after an anonymous tip.

The drugs were discovered during a yearbook and art class at the school.

Police have charged 17-year-old Elyssa Sax with possession of Ecstasy and possession of a weapon on school campus. The also charged 18-year-old Kristin Suggs with possession of Ecstasy, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of a weapon on school campus.

Sax and Suggs were processed in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $5,000 secured bond. Both will make their first court appearance on Tuesday in the Detention Center Courtroom at 2:30 p.m.
