Police: Woman shot in SUV

RALEIGH Witnesses told Eyewitness News what they saw and heard.

"I was on my way to work and I heard the gunshot," witness Rick Harris said.

That was just before 6 a.m. Shortly after that, police were on the scene.

Police closed the intersection of Crosslink and Rock Quarry roads for several hours while they investigated the shooting. Several people say they witnessed what happened.

"I heard the scream and everything, but like I said, I thought somebody had shot somebody's dog in the yard," Harris told Eyewitness News.

Police later confirmed the shooting was domestic.

They charged 32-year-old Anthony Lee Cooper with attempted murder in connection with the shooting of his wife, Crystal Cooper.

She was shot in the abdomen and transported to WakeMed. The hospital has not released any information on her condition.

Anthony Cooper is also charged with assault on a female for grabbing and dragging Crystal Cooper at their residence on Hadley Rd. Thursday morning before the shooting.

In addition to those charges, he is charged with communicating threats in connection with a statement made to a 9-year-old who was in the SUV at the time of the shooting.

A second child, age 2, was also in the vehicle.

Harris said he is thinking about the children and the victim. "I hope she going to be alright."
