Stepmother in tree tying death out of jail

TARBORO, NC Sandra McMillan posted bond Monday. In January, she pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder, felony child abuse, aiding and abetting murder and aiding and abetting felony child abuse.

Her stepson, Tyler McMillan, died in June 2008 after being tied overnight to a tree.

Investigators say Sandra McMillan, and the teen's father, Bruce McMillan, were punishing the child.

An autopsy determined the teen died of dehydration and a heat stroke.

A judge ordered Sandra McMillan to live with her cousin in Cary and wear a monitoring device. Bruce McMillan is facing similar charges and remains in jail with no bond.
