Driver killed in interstate crash

ORANGE COUNTY North Carolina State Highway Patrol Troopers tell Eyewitness News that one truck struck the other in the rear, causing both trucks to roll off the road on Interstate 40 near mile marker 263.

The accident happened after 11 p.m. Friday night just outside Hillsborough. Crews were on the scene for hours trying to clean up the accident.

Troopers say Robert Earl Bizzell was ejected from his truck because he was not wearing his seat belt.

The other truck driver was hurt, but his injuries are not considered lofe threatening.

Troopers are not sure what caused the accident, but say that speed, weather and alcohol, so far, are not factors, but that the investigation into the accident is ongoing.

Troopers also say charges are pending. No other vehicles were involved.
