Thieves target unlocked doors in Garner

GARNER Officers say 13 separate car break-ins were reported in the Lakemoor subdivision off of Buffaloe Rd. Stolen items include GPS systems, car radios, wallets and cash.

In each case, police say the vehicles were left unlocked, so owners should lock their car doors.

Police warn if the valuables cannot be removed from the car, owners should at least lock valuables in the trunk or place them out of sight. Police say it doesn't matter if your vehicle is parked in your driveyway -- you should still lock your doors.

Officers also advise making a list of make, brand, and serial numbers for any items that are left in your car.

Finally, if you see anyone suspicious or see suspicious activity, call to report it. If you have any information on these crimes, call Garner police at (919) 772-8810 or Crime Stoppers at (919) 226-2724.
