Police seek attempted robbery suspect

CHAPEL HILL Police are trying to identify the individual from surveillance video taken during the attempted armed robbery.

The robbery happened early Sunday morning around 3:45 a.m. in the parking lot of Granville Towers off of W. Franklin Street.

The victims told police that the suspect approached their vehicle while they were inside and began knocking on the window.

According to the report, the suspect was armed with a black handgun and is described as a white man or a light skinned black man approximately 6 feet tall. He was wearing a black leather jacket with a hoodie. The suspect also had a blue bandana covering his face.

The victims drove off immediately unharmed and last saw the suspect running in the direction of Rosemary Street.
