Investigators say Martimer Cobb, 50, of Southgate Drive hit 30-year-old Nikisha Gamble of Joe Lewis Avenue while she was in a pedestrian crosswalk.
Gamble was killed.
Cobb was charged with driving while intoxicated. He was also charged with having an expired inspection and registration on his car.
