The deputy said he attempted to talk to the victim. However, 25-year-old Cedric Mills, one of the people walking with the victim, told the deputy he could not speak to the victim.
According to authorities, Mills became irate with the officer after being asked to step aside so the deputy could complete his investigation. Mills allegedly began yelling at the officer, who then tried to arrest Mills.
Mills reported punched the officer away and ran across a field. During the altercation, the deputies patrol car received about $200 in damages.
Mills is wanted for assault on a government official, resisting a public officer and injury to personal property.
