All three lanes of the interstate were closed while firefighters worked to put out the truck which caught fire after the crash.
Witnesses told Eyewitness News that they tried to pull the truck driver out of his cab before the fire consumed the vehicle, but they were not able to free him.
The dead man has not yet been identified.
Traffic was detoured off the interstate near the crash scene and backups stretched on for miles.
The highway reopened at 4:45 p.m.
