Teen allegedly tosses puppy in pond

CARY According to Cary police, Clark said he could not afford to take care of the dog.

Witnesses who saw what happened rescued the German Sheppard mix. Cary police later took the puppy to the Animal Emergency Clinic in Cary.

Dr. Kelly Reilly with the clinic said the female dog's name was Armani and she was between 12 and 16-weeks-old.

Dr. Reilly said that despite what the animal went through, it was healthy and had already been adopted.

Police have charged Clark with felony animal cruelty. He is in jail under a $10,000 bond.

Clark will appear in court on August 6.
