Trooper G.M. Dickerson said 20-year-old Clayton Adam Carter was killed when a vehicle hit him as he was walking on the side of the road. The vehicle then fled the scene.
Authorities said Clayton was wearing dark clothing. They are waiting on an autopsy to determine if there was any alcohol in his system.
Police said they have not found any witnesses.
It is not known if officials have any leads on a suspect.
