Dog deflates deputy's tires

CUMBERLAND COUNTY The incident happened Sunday near Hope Mills. Sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Tanna said the Deputy Lyn Lavallis parked his car in a woman's driveway while responding to her complaint about a dog.

Tanna said while Lavallis went to speak to Gloria Bass, her next door neighbor's dog bit the patrol car's tires, deflating them. The dog didn't attack the deputy.

"Well they were punctured and some of them were chewed up," Cumberland County Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Debbie Tanna said. "We had to call out a wrecker service to go and change the tires."

The sheriff's office will bill the neighbor, Jennifer Combs, $500 for the cost of a new set of tires.
