Real estate agents hold safety seminar

RALEIGH The agents are participating in a harm prevention seminar at Hope Community Church in Raleigh.

Last month's attack happened in a Cary subdivision. Police say an agent was showing a home to Michael Sleeman when he pulled out a knife and sexually assaulted her.

The incident prompted a new way of thinking about how realtors and clients can stay safe.

"Having two people going out with a prospective client, or having a woman and a man there just to provide any sort of additional safeguards," neighbor Tony Salehi suggested.

Salehi lives n the neighborhood where the crime took place.

Two industry professionals will hold a seminar in hopes of preventing what happened last month from happening again.

Friday's seminar is from 10 a.m. to noon.
