Boyfriend's mother reports domestic dispute

ROCKY MOUNT Daniel Hopkins and his girlfriend, Russhawn Fields, were having an argument in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Sunset Avenue when police arrived around 11:30 p.m.

Hopkins told officers he was not arguing with Fields and he did not know why the police were called.

Officers said Hopkins was holding his stomach and looked as if he was in pain. He then said he was stabbed in the stomach by an unknown suspect.

Hopkins also told police that he was partying all night and did not know when or where he was stabbed.

Officials said he would not answer any questions regarding the incident and was uncooperative with them.

Fields said she did not know about the stabbing and also refused to cooperate.

Police then took Fields into custody for domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon. Authorities later found no probable cause and she was released.

EMS transported Hopkins to Nash General Hospital for treatment, where he is being treated for his injuries.

Police said further information about other possible suspects or details about the incident have not been released because the victim was not cooperating with officers.
