Pictures from Chopper 11 HD showed the aftermath after a Ford Explorer went through a guardrail and flipped in the median.
The wreck left a path of debris as the SUV apparently rolled over and over near the Lumley Road exit at Brier Creek.
The crash closed westbound lanes while emergency workers removed the vehicle.
There's no word on the seriousness of the injuries.
