Leverette principal accused of texting student inappropriately

A local middle school principal was suspended with pay December 15 while the district checked allegations against him. That principal was the head of Toledo's Leverette middle school.

TPS superintendent John Foley released the following statement: "Mr. Steve Riddle has resigned from Toledo Public Schools to pursue other interests and opportunities. His resignation from the district is effective as of today."

According to the district personnel file with details of the investigation, Riddle sent at least 140 text messages over a three day period earlier this month to a student from another school district, not TPS.

The file says many of the text messages were sent while Riddle was on duty as principal at Leverette middle school, during school time. The district only released the text messages allegedly sent by Riddle, none by the young woman.

Foley calls the text messages inappropriate. The texts include profanity, requests to send pictures, and also talk of favorite music.
