Third suspect in officer shooting charged

Police have arrested and charged a third man in connection with the shooting of a Sanford police officer.

Andrel Douglas, 23, is charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder.

He is one of three men charged in connection with the shooting of 33-year-old Officer Scott Norton. Norton was shot five times Sunday as he patrolled a mobile home park.

Officer Norton was wearing a bulletproof vest and did not suffer any life-threatening injuries.

Breon Black, 21, and Thomas Mitchell, 16, also is charged with first-degree attempted murder.
