'Quick Rob Bandits' target unattended vehicles

CUMBERLAND COUNTY

Investigators say the suspects took vehicles while victims went inside the store. All of the thefts took place at Kangaroo and Quick Stop stores.

Investigators have dubbed the suspects "Quick Rob Bandits," and say the criminals carefully choose their victims and steal vehicles that are left running or have the keys in the ignition while the victim goes into the store to pay for gas or purchase other items.

The first incident happened on December 10, 2009 at the Kangaroo on Gillespie Street in Fayetteville. The suspect stole a 1993 black, Honda Accord. The owner of the vehicle was inside the store and left her vehicle running.

The latest incident was on December 29 at the Kangaroo on McArthur Road. The suspects stole a 2004 Dodge Ram.

Detectives say the suspects are four men ranging in age from 23 to 40.They usually wear the same clothing items. Both crimes took place during the late evening hours.
