An Amber Alert was issued in Virginia and North Carolina for Alexis Cartwright.
The 11-year-old from Bath, North Carolina was first reported missing three days ago.
Authorities say she was kidnapped by her father, 55-year-old Lemuel Robert Cartwright, from the Cumberland Children's Hospital in New Kent, Virginia outside Richmond.
When authorities issued the alert, they said Alexis had a serious medical condition and may have been in need of immediate medical attention. But details about her condition have not been released.
Wednesday afternoon, police said Alexis had been found and her father was taken in to custody, but they did not say where the pair was located.
Lemuel Cartwright is facing two felony charges of parental abduction and child neglect.
