Vandals damage older cemetery

FAYETTEVILLE They vandalized an older part of the Cross Creek Cemetery off Lamon Street, just north of downtown.

Investigators say late Tuesday or early Wednesday the vandals toppled 33 headstones and markers.

Officials say several headstones are broken.

Cemetery workers tell ABC11 Eyewitness News that some of the damaged head stones date back to the early 1900s.

Authorities have not released further details about the incident.
