MLK Day commemorated with Triangle events

RALEIGH

And in Fayetteville, the city held its 16th annual MLK breakfast.

In Raleigh, there was the bell ringing at the State Government Bicentennial Mall that kicked off the 30th annual parade in the capital city.

Simultaneously, bells rang all over the nation.

Dr. King encouraged people to volunteer time to help the less fortunate, so many people used their day away from work to do that.

As a reward for their efforts, some received free one-day tickets to a Walk Disney resort.

Disney is the parent company of ABC11 Eyewitness News. The company decided volunteers deserve a reward for the work they do across America.

That's why the effort is called Give a Day, Get a Day.
