Party leaders chose Margaret Dickson on Wednesday night.
She is currently a state representative.
Governor Bev Perdue will officially appoint her in the coming days.
Leaders say they'll meet next month to appoint Dickson's replacement to the 44th District.
Rand has recently been accused of insider trading by a former business associate, but he calls those charges ridiculous.
