King said he called Waste Industries to get it straightened out.
"They said 'That's a mistake. We'll update it,'" he recalled.
But the update didn't happen.
"Maybe 30 days later, I got another invoice saying I haven't paid this invoice. It's late," King said.
King said it went on for 6 months. Besides the past due bills from Waste Industries, he got a letter and calls from a collection agency.
"I watch the news quite a bite and I see you handle problems, so I got you involved," said King.
After we brought the problem to the attention of Waste Industries, the general manager got involved and took care of it right away. He said his company made a billing error back in July of 2009 and did a poor job of correcting it.
He added that - as a company - Waste Industries strives to provide excellent service and it's their intention to use this mistake as an opportunity to improve their services.
The company also sent King a letter explaining the error and apologized for his frustrations and inconvenience. It also said his credit would not be hurt in any way.
